چکیده

A new formalism for the accurate treatment of adiabatic effects in the hydrogen molecule is presented, in which the electronic wave function is expanded in the James-Coolidge basis functions. Systematic increase in the size of the basis set permits estimation of the accuracy. Numerical results for the adiabatic correction to the Born-Oppenheimer interaction energy reveal a relative precision of 10(-12) at an arbitrary internuclear distance. Such calculations have been performed for 88 internuclear distances in the range of 0 < R ⩽ 12 bohrs to construct the adiabatic correction potential and to solve the nuclear Schrödinger equation. Finally, the adiabatic correction to the dissociation energies of all rovibrational levels in H2, HD, HT, D2, DT, and T2 has been determined. For the ground state of H2 the estimated precision is 3 × 10(-7) cm(-1), which is almost three orders of magnitude higher than that of the best previous result. The achieved accuracy removes the adiabatic contribution from the overall error budget of the present day theoretical predictions for the rovibrational levels.

Leading order nonadiabatic corrections to rovibrational levels of H2, D2, and T2.

An efficient computational approach to nonadiabatic effects in the hydrogen molecule (H2, D2, and T2) is presented. The electronic wave function is expanded in the James-Coolidge basis set, which enables obtaining a very high accuracy of nonadiabatic potentials. A single point convergence of the potentials with growing size of the basis set reveals a relative accuracy ranging from 10(-8) to 10(...

Non-Born-Oppenheimer correction to the H3+ potential from experimental data.

The spectrum of D3+ is analyzed using a spectroscopically determined effective H3+ potential [B. M. Dinelli, S. Miller, and J. Tennyson, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 1BS, 71 (1994)] and an accurate ab initio potential [G. C. Lie and D. Frye, J. Chem. Phys. 9B, 6784 (1992)]. Calculations suggest that the major error in the potential of Lie and Frye is due to the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. D3+ spectro...

Understanding Hydrogen Adsorption in MIL-47-M (M = V and Fe) through Density Functional Theory

The present paper aims to investigate the role of open metal site metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) on hydrogen adsorptivity using periodic boundary condition (PBC) density functional theory (DFT). Hence, MIL-47-M (M = V and Fe) were selected and one hydrogen molecule adsorptivity was calculated in different orientations on them. Four different chemical sites were identified in every cluster sect...

Exchange–Correlation Functionals via Local Interpolation along the Adiabatic Connection

The construction of density-functional approximations is explored by modeling the adiabatic connection locally, using energy densities defined in terms of the electrostatic potential of the exchange-correlation hole. These local models are more amenable to the construction of size-consistent approximations than their global counterparts. In this work we use accurate input local ingredients to a...

Hydrogen Adsorption on (5,0) and (3,3) Na-decorated BNNTs

The storage capacity of hydrogen on Na-decorated born nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) is investigated by using density functional theory within Quantum Espresso and Gaussian 09. The results obtained predict that a single Na atom tends to occupy above the central region of the hexagonal rings in (5,0) and (3,3) BNNT structures with a binding energy of -2.67 and -4.28 eV/Na-atom respectively. When a si...
